This repair is for the Apple iPhone 5s.

How to determine if you need the iPhone 5s Long Screw Damage Repair Service:

  1. The LCD Screen on your phone was recently replaced and you are experiencing the following:
  2. Phone Boot Loops (Turns on and off by itself)

If you are experiencing the above symptoms, you mostly likely have damage inside one of the screw holes caused by inserting the improper screw in the wrong place.

This repair service includes diagnostic and repair of the torn traces in the motherboard necessary to repair this problem on your iPhone 5S.

Once you purchase this iPhone 5s repair, simply follow the instructions Where To Ship Your iPhone and we'll take care of the rest.

Using the Wrong Screw in the incorrect hole is a painful lesson but we are here to help

This problem most commonly comes about when you or someone you trust opens to repair any issue on your iPhone and during the process mixes up the screws and placing the wrong screw in the wrong area when putting it back together. The screws on the iPhones are almost all different sizes but to most of us without a microscope, they look to be very similar. Because of this, if you are are not experienced at repairing the iPhone 5s it is very easy to mixup the screws and cause this problem.

The problem occurs when replacing the 4 screws that hold down the plate over the screen connectors. If the screws get swapped and one of the longer screws is placed in the hole for the shorter, it will damage the logic board. The phone will boot loop, displaying a blue screen at the end of the boot loop and if a restore is attempted it will fail giving an error 14 or error 9 in iTunes.

The screws as shown in the 2nd picture.

  • The red ones are 1.7mm long
  • The yellow one, 1.3mm
  • The orange one, 1.2mm

If you install either red or yellow screws into the orange spot, a common mistake because normal eyesight can not detect a 0.1mm difference? The screw will cut into the PCB as shown in the 3rd picture and break several traces, as shown in the 4th picture after removing the solder mask, causing a blue screen error on the phone. Picture 5 shows the repair.

We can repair this with advanced micro soldering technique and bridging the breaks in these traces with microscopic copper wire (the width of a human hair). On average this repair will take most technicians around 2 hours to do, though as you get more skilled at doing so and with a little luck it is possible to do within an hour or so.

Note: Because of the nature of the damage, this repair is not always successful and will depend on the extent of the damage to the logic board.
